Banks Junior High School is a 7th and 8th grade junior high that is located in Banks, Oregon. The facility underwent a significant remodel in 1999 after the passage of a school improvement bond by the community. With the remodel came the addition of a new gymnasium, locker rooms, cafeteria, kitchen and choir room. We are a staff of 22 professionals. This includes eight certified teachers whose FTE is assigned solely to Banks Junior High School and an additional four teachers who have responsibilities at both the junior high and high school. Our teaching staff has a mean of approximately ten years in the field of education.
Our focus is on insuring that every student reaches his or her full potential both academically and behaviorally.
Our enrollment is 208 students of which 95% is caucasion. The remaining 5% of our student body consists of a mix of both Hispanic origin and Asian origin students.
School volunteers play a big part in the overall success of our students. Parent volunteers organize a total of five after school events. Parents also volunteer at registration and many school events. The number of volunteer hours projected for the 2009-2010 school year is approximately 100.
Our students have access to 70 computers, which is about one computer to every 3 students. The vast majority of these computers have Internet access.
Student activities are an integral part of the overall education at Banks Junior High School. The range of activities for students includes the following; warrior club, National Junior Honor Society, honor roll, improved grades lunches, band/choir and athletics.
