Safe and Welcoming Schools
The Banks School District is unwavering in its belief that every student has the fundamental right to learn in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment. We are committed to protecting this right and celebrating each student for their unique culture, strengths, and contributions to our schools. Our district ensures an educational experience free from discrimination or harassment, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, language proficiency, immigration status, socioeconomic background, or ability. Every member of our community—students, staff, and visitors—is entitled to an environment that upholds their dignity, affirms their worth, and supports their growth.
Under Oregon House Bill 4079, school districts are required to inform interested community organizations whenever federal immigration authorities are confirmed to have entered school property for immigration enforcement. Please note that staff, families, and students in grades 7 and above are automatically notified. For these groups, additional actions are not required to receive notifications.
The district will issue a notification only in the event that immigration officials actually access one of our campuses.
